Remember I said I was taking a course on using fairytales and folklore as a structure for well-being and self-care? Well, one of the ideas presented in the workshop was to have a morning ritual. They even provided a list of suggested activities. The last item comes from Lewis Carroll’s tale of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I admit, I have never read any of the Wonderland books (though I love the Jabberwocky poem!). You are probably wondering why I have never read it…well, I have this problem where if I see a theatrical version of something before reading it, it ruins the read for me and I just can’t make myself turn the page. But I digress! Despite not having read it, I have seen many dramatic adaptations, so am very familiar with the overall content and plot.

In the tale, the White Queen famously challenges Alice to believe in “six impossible things before breakfast.” This whimsical notion from Carroll’s Wonderland world not only captivated my imagination but also sparked me to explore the idea further. There is a valuable insight into the concepts of mental well-being and creativity when it comes to this prompt.
