Disclaimer: The views and opinions expressed on this blog are my own and do not reflect those of my employer or any affiliated organizations.
By day, I’m a librarian and learning facilitator who teaches library staff how to library—whether that means navigating systems, building soft skills, or reimagining how we serve our communities. I believe learning should be practical, engaging, and rooted in real-world experience.
I’m also a TEDx speaker and Doctor of Education. My research explored creativity resistance in libraries—why innovation can sometimes feel so hard in places that need it most. In my TED Talk, I dig into how a lack of psychological safety can block creativity, and what it takes to build environments where new ideas can thrive.

Books are my first love (obviously), and I’ve written and contributed to several of them—including Best STEM Resources for Next Gen Scientists. But this blog, Not Quite Superhuman, is where I take off the academic hat and share from a more personal place.
It started years ago as part of a “23 Things” project, then sat on the shelf until life—and stress—reminded me that writing is a powerful way to think things through. Here, I talk about:
- Creative habits that reduce stress and spark joy
- Navigating life transitions and big responsibilities
- Balancing professional growth with personal well-being
- What I’m reading, learning, and experimenting with next
In 2017, my husband faced a health crisis that turned our lives upside down. Since then, I’ve been juggling single-income living, caregiving, parenting, and a full-time career. I don’t have it all figured out—but I’ve learned a few things along the way. This space is where I share them.
We may be Not Quite Superhuman… but not for lack of trying.
